More AMD based supercomputer news here. The Chinese have been quick to spot the opportunity offered by the new Opteron processor. They are clobbering together a 10TeraFLOP machine using 2000 Opteron CPUs. I wonder why does our government (India) have to shout its head off when they barely managed to make a 1TeraFLOP computer using UltraSPARC chips.

The AMD Opteron has started gathering a respected fan following. Cray recently announced its new 40 TeraFLOP supercomputer will use 10,368 AMD Opterons linked using AMD developed Hypertransport technology.
