AMD has acquired the Information Appliance business of National Semiconductor. This division primarily makes the Geode series of processors based on the earlier Cyrix MediaGX CPU. This should give AMD instant access to the PDA, thin-client and SoC (System on Chip) market. This would give AMD an interesting mix of solutions for this lucrative market since it already has the Alchemy series of processors.
